SITE SURVEY & DRAINAGE DESIGN
Some yards or acreages built on rolling land come with great drainage. However, if your yard is in a flat zone, it can be hard to manage the storm water that comes with spring runoff or large rain events. Issues with drainage can lead to lead to such problems as basement flooding, large dead spots in your lawn from ponding, puddles which turn into potholes on your driveway and, worst of all, mosquito havens!
These drainage issues can be tough to identify and fix. DHC Solutions Ltd. can help. Our exact method may vary depending on your specific challenges, lots of times the issue can be solved by regrading using a rod-and-level. However, in the case where multiple challenges exist, it is more cost effective to solve the problem with technology prior to implementing the heavy equipment. The process will basically consist of the following:
- Survey the property with a Total Station picking up elevations on grid as well as break-lines, low spots, and natural outlets where water leaves your property.
- Import the survey data into our CAD program and create contours showing the grades and drainage routes on your yard or acreage.
- Create break-lines, swales and ditches to convey the storm water to a pond or off your property. We will also ensure we create positive drainage from all buildings and will attempt to run water by trees or garden plots to encourage seepage where it is desired.
- We then export the design information back into the survey equipment and lay out the grading features which need to be constructed.
- DHC Solutions Ltd. will then fire up the equipment and create the well-draining masterpiece that was designed on CAD.
- Whether it is sod, conventional seeding hardscaping or gravel, DHC Solutions Ltd. will bring your yard back to the aesthetic condition you had. This may be the right time to make some upgrades to your landscaping or driving surfaces!
